In the year 2015-16, the office desires to put more thrust upon organizing the Skill Development Trainings for the unemployed youth with special concentration of tourism, as a part of the Skill Development mission.

After inception of Alipurduar District, the Director of Youth services, Government of West Bengal, vide this no. 808-1(8)-DYS/3E-37/2014, dated 20-07-2014, notified the start of journey of the District Youth Office at this district.

The office is presently run at the Collector Building itself with one UDA, one clerk (contractual) and one Group-D employee. One Deputy Magistrate and Deputy Collector has been given the charges of District Youth Officer to provide the services to the youths of this district.

This office performs the activities defined by the Youth Services Department and Sports Department, Government of West Bengal. The targets of this office are – (i) To spread the Science Sports and cultural activities among the students and youths, (ii) To bring out the talents from the students and youths by organizing grassroots level events and nurture the talents, (iii) To promote the locally popular sports and cultural activities, (iv) To facilitate the youths in generation of income by providing skill development training ,(v) To maintain the existing infrastructures of the Youth and Sports Department and monitor in creation of new infrastructures.

In the year 2014-15, the District Youth office has taken point in organizing the following events–

    1. District level Science Seminar and Exhibition.
    2. District level Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan Events.
    3. District level Students and Youth festival.
    4. Vivek Chetana Utsab and Subhash Utsab.
    5.District Level Youth Parliament and Quiz Contests.

    The medal winners of the District Level events also shined in the Division and State level events and their talents have been highly praised.
